As I said, I’ve been holding my tongue with T-Mobile for months, but enough, is enough. I have never been more frustrated with a phone in my life and what makes it more difficult is that fact that I was one of those people who was trumpeting it’s release to everyone I knew. It can never find my location and constantly crashes my phone. The previous fix seemed to help a little, but with this update we’re back to where we started. Unfortunately it was short lived and I’m back to a laggy (10+ seconds to open an app or a simple email etc), freezing and rebooting phone. When I first upgraded the phone it flew! Everything was opening immediately and I was extremely excited to finally see the Vibrant work the way I’ve been hearing people say it worked. I have patiently been dealing with the issues doing hard resets etc, hoping that the Froyo update would fix the issues. I am one of the people who have experienced lag, rebooting, freezing from the beginning. Upgrade was a breeze, but I am extremely disappointed. Someone else posted the instructions above, but I don’t know who, otherwise I’d give them credit. After that the movie started playing again. I needed to clear the data in DRM Protected Content Storage (Settings>Applications>Manage Applications>All>DRM Protected Content) and reboot the phone twice. Oh, one issue I did have was getting the Avatar Movie playing. Only time will tell if there are any issues. Granted, I’ve only had the update since Sunday, so I haven’t had time to really test out the GPS, or other features like tethering and Wi-Fi calling, but all in all it seem solid. I now have 2.2 running on my Vibrant and the phone even feels snappier. My past experiences with the Kies tool have not been pleasant, and the only plus I can think of is that I registered my phone when I first used Kies and that in some way helped with this update. To say I was shocked would be an understatement. I fully expected Kies Mini to give me some grief but it detected the phone and updated without a problem and I’m running Win 7 64-bit. It’s still hard for me to believe but my update went off without a hitch. My wife’s phone has come back to new version after light use but my phone is still on the old version. In “Silent” mode, starting up music still plays. – “Silent” on notification bar is now behaving like “vibrate”. You might need a full discharge/recharge to calibrate your battery with Froyo. I can’t comment on whether battery has improved. – Battery indicator in notification bar is rather inaccurate at showing battery usage level. – Some users complained about not being able to watch Avatar. – Needed to download Flash Player 10.1 from market to update existing Flash Player. – One live wallpaper was removed but “Polar Clock” and “VU Meter’ have been added. It should take one or few attempt to fix the position. Look for “gingerbread keyboard” in market as replacement if you like Android stock keyboard. – Home screens have been reset to tmo default.
